- James farmed at Kirkton Farm and then Ballencrieff Farm. Whilst at Kirkton he met and then married Elizabeth.
James later knows as Poppa, became a very successful Dairy Farmer, first in Bathgate later in the Blairgowrie area of Perthshire.. During WWII, whilst farming at Bathgate he made a lot of money selling milk.
When they were at Blairgowrie his farm was considered a model farm. The Agricultural Department advisors sent young farmers to the farm to really learn how a dairy farm should be run.
James died relatively young.
