  In 1863 John was the informant on the Death Certificate of Walter Kidd, John's grandfather who died aged 88 As well as John and Jane some of their children are mentioned on a headstone in Linlithgow Cemetery. Included are Agnes, who died in 1935, John who died in infancy and adopted son John Taylor Kidd who died aged 19 on 17/4/1882 (16th) and James who died 8/12/1884.
