• Notes

  Served Military Service during World War 1 John joined the 2 Batallion, Otago Reserves. At the outset of WWI he was sent overseas in the NZ Expeditionary Force. Serving as Private 12133 when he was wounded at one of the Battles of the Somme in 1916. He was taken to Lodgehill Hospital, Birmingham, WAR. England, for further treatment. However he died of his injuries on 8 Oct 1916.
