- Middle name given as Alan and Allan in two different places on the Australian National Archives Enlistments.
He first enlisted at Royal Park, VIC on 24 Jun 1940 and was given service number VX34197 Lester was discharged on 31 Dec 1940, as a Private. And then he enlisted in the AIF, the first enlistment was probably in the Militia. The second enlistment was on 4 Feb 1942 at Caulfield and was discharged from the HQ 5 Australian Base Supply Depot on 5 Nov 1945, as a Sergeant, Service Number VX73079.
