- Working as a Carpenter in 1929 and residing at 12 Daly Street, W.Brunswick, he enlisted in the Australian Militia as a volunteer. This took place on 2 Dec 1929. Previously he had served in the 59th Btr Senior Cadets based at Brunswick. At this time he was unmarried.
29 Dec 1942 he enlisted in the Civil Construction Corps with Service Number CV101601 as a Carpenter. His home address was 2 Disraeli Court, Pascoe Vale. For this he was paid 3 pound per week.
When he enlisted in the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF), on 21 Jun 1944 , he was by now married to Margaret Olive Brown. Enlisted at Brunswick, VIC, and was given Service Number 149850.
Discharged from the RAAF as Leading Aircraftman on 11 Apr 1946.
