• Notes

  Mary did not have any children of her own and so they adopted a son. The boy went missing never to be seen again. Because his father worked near a locomotive shed the locos fireboxes were searched for any signs of the body to no avail. Eventually John and Mary moved from Edinburgh. It was rumoured that they suspected the birth-mother may have kidnapped the child and so they had moved to be closer to where they believed the birth-mother lived so they may find the boy. Nothing came of this. Mary had taken to wearing dark glasses, from the time the boy went missing, and was rarely seen without them.
