      James Lowell Virgo (FAIRFAX, S.C.)

      FAIRFAX, S.C. - James Lowell Virgo, 82, died July 28, 2006. Mr. Virgo was born in Dickey, N.D. on August 31, 1923. He later moved to Cazenovia, N.Y., eventually permanently relocating to Fairfax, S.C. Mr. Virgo was an Army Veteran and worked at EI Dupont, retiring after 31 years. He spent his retired years as a cattle farmer in Fairfax. Mr. Virgo was preceded in death by his parents, Roderick and Gladys Virgo; two brothers, Glen Virgo and Roderick Virgo and one sister, Audrey Virgo. Surviving is his wife, Jean Youmans Virgo of the home; two sons, R. Steven (Gayle) Virgo of North Augusta, S.C. and Robert J. (Mary) Virgo of Graniteville, S.C.; two stepsons, Wayne Champagne of San Antonio, Texas and Derriel (Mary) Champagne of Fairfax; nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; a host of nieces and nephews. A memorial may be made to Swallow Savannah Cemetery in lieu of flowers. Memorial services will be held 2:00 p.m. Tuesday at Bellinger Chapel Methodist Church in Fairfax. Visitation will be held prior to the service at 1:15 in the church. Smith-Rhoden Funeral Home of Allendale is in charge of arrangements. Sign the guestbook at AugustaChronicle.com
