• Notes

  Peter had to leave school at 13 to help provide for the family. He was a clever boy and his headteacher wrote to his mother begging her to let him stay on at school. However, as the oldest son he had to leave. In 1945 Peter was the informant on the death of his mother, Bethia Dickson. After the war Peter was able to fulfull his potential and studied during the emergency teacher training. He became a primary teacher at Larbert Village School. I arrived just after this in 1950! He went on to be headteacher of 1) Arnprior Primary, 2) California Primary (Falkirk) then Bridge of Allan Primary where he stayed until he retired.
