Very confusing is Robina. Born at her mother's home at Academy Street, Bathgate. On her Birth Certificate her name is given as "Robina Gray or Kerr" illegitimate. And her mother was a washerwoman, Janet Gray or Kerr. Her maiden name was actually Kerr according to Robina's marriage certificate. James Gaff comes on the scene later and I suppose that he was her step father
